Stanley 'Tookie' Williams

Today, and over the next few days, I will be saying a prayer for Tookie Williams, his family and supporters and the Governer of California who will be deciding on Mr Williams fate. I will pray for the families of those whose deaths led to Mr Williams incarceration, and for the thousands of young people who Mr Williams has inspired to seek a life away from gangs, violence, drugs and deaths.

The Lord is my shephard, I shall not want
He makes me to lie down in green pastures
He leads me beside still waters
He restores my soul.
He guides me in the path of righteousness
For His name sake.

Censoring or Hypocrisy?

So here's my little message to all those Christians who kicked up a fuss about the Jerry Springer Opera.

As a piece of 'art' the Jerry Springer Opera is not entirely to my tastes: it does, however, have its tongue firmly in its cheek and musically speaking it has its merits.

But if you think it is somehow more amoral, or blasphemous that the show on which it was based, then frankly, you cant start complaining now.

The complaints should have started when Mr Springers exploitative, amoral programmes started going on air in the first place. But they did not. So its too late to start moaning now. So to those who happen to be passing, and to those who think that my fellow Christians who are getting so wound up about this are doing too little, too late (or who think that they are just plain wrong), voice your complaint to:

Lets Start At The Very Begining...

No, I'm not about to break out into a poor rendition of The Sound of Music!

But for the these thoughts, opinions and points of view that will be expressed here to be properly understood, a brief explanation as to how I got to this stage in my journey will help.

Its been a journey of emotions, and understanding them; a physical journey (and transformation) that has been led me down the spiritual journey that continues to this day. It has been an education that never ceases, and yet I am not alone in it. It has been harsh and bewildering, yet full of joy and beauty, wonderment and blessings. And I doubt that it is unique, but it is special to me.

We are all scaling the same mountain to reach the same mountain peak: but we each stand on a different part of that mountain, see that peak from different angles and vantage points and so, whilst the journey we all share is the same, it is also different. Truth is universal, yet different for each individual.

My heritage is mixed; culturally my family is maltese/british/celtic, so I have a tendancy to passion and temper in equal proportion to a reserved and shy dispostion. On my maternal line there is a wealth of strong women who fought as sufferegettes and social campaigners, strong Christian women whose faith and love inspire me constantly. There is a strong streak of conservatism in my family too; as a child I stood between the radical and the reserved and I think to a real extent I still do.

Radical by intstinct, reserved by experience. On the one hand wanting to knock down the walls that divide and oppress, on the other realising (often painfully) that the wall can only come down one brick at a time.

But its the walls within that have to come down first.

on a less philosiphical note...

It will be my eldest's 13th birthday at the end of this month. Puberty has arrived in our home with and I feel like I have walked into a brick wall... or another country perhaps. There is a child walking around my house who looks like my son, sounds like my son - but who cant be my son because my son is not that volatile, tempremental or secretive. Possibley its the start of an alien invasion.

Jeff Wayne's 'War of The Worlds' is being played alot in my home at the moment!

Greetings fellow doormice, and all those who feel small in a big big world! For whilst it is true that in the multi-dimensional universe we are mere particles in a huge and swelling extravagence, even we little ones have a view of the world and a part to play in it.


First, I shall tell you a little something about myself

I am a doormouse who likes to write, sing and talk; I like to dream and love a challange; and I have 2 little doormouse who make my eyes sparkle.

On this blog, I shall share my faith, my thoughts (and sometimes my poems), and maybe some of my thoughts and ideas will make you smile - and they may also make you cross since you may not agree with me. I lean a little to the left, though labels and boxes are not my style. The world is made of all sorts, and it takes all sorts to make the world.

(Oh, and I promise not to make to make too many corny comments too often!)
